A 4th ex-Xanterra employee who'd joined us for the weekend provided a 2nd car, so we could do shuttle hikes. The first hike we selected was the Hoodoos. We started at Glen Creek Trailhead south of Mammoth and walked 3.8 mi. to Mammoth's Liberty Cap. Notice that's mostly downhill. Later we drove through Lamar Valley to Trout Lake trailhead. We had run into more of what one called "corn snow." It covered the road except for the tire tracks. We thought the weather had let up, so we started the uphill hike to the lake. A little thunder made us hasten though, quickly taking photos of the pretty scenery at the lake and starting back. Round trip was 1.2. miles.
